One year ago today Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the now notorious Coronavirus, beginning a downward spiral as all American sports came to a standstill. Two days before the center, now 28 tested positive, he made a show, touching several microphones placed on the press-room table. A miserable attempt to lighten the mood as reporters stood from afar, holding microphones in accordance with newly introduced social distancing requirements. Gobert says that he has since learned from the incident, as he issued a lengthy apology urging others to abide by Covid safety precautions. Gobert acknowledges his connection to March 11th as something he will always be asked about, while quote “refusing to wear a target on his back”. And just a year later a lot has changed but, a lot has also stayed the same. Stadiums once packed became empty. Sports, as we once knew it, changed. And so, Dear Sports, what will another year from today mean for sports?
